My expertise has been gained through more than 20 years of experience working with children, plus an additional 5 years of study in higher education. This, combined with taking regular and ongoing professional development opportunities, means that I am able to offer expertise in the following areas:
• Knowledge of infant (0-2 years), child (3-13 years) and adolescent (14-19 years) cognitive, social and emotional development and neuropsychological development
• Knowledge of a range of conditions that can present barriers to learning including dyslexia, dyscalculia, autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and acquired brain injury
• Assessment of infant, child and adolescent cognition, and social and emotional development, including attachment difficulties
• Assessment and identification of special educational needs, including emotional and behavioural difficulties, learning difficulties and language and communication difficulties
• Formulation of interventions and strategies to support cognitive, social and emotional development
• Formulation of interventions for children with special educational needs
• Assessment and interventions for children and adolescents with specific syndromes or conditions including autism spectrum disorders (ASD), Asperger Syndrome, Down’s Syndrome and acquired brain injury
• Facilitation of communication and collaboration between parents or carers and teachers in order to support the psychological development of infants, children and adolescents including those with special educational needs
